Family Forum
Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Initiatives
Chair, Frank McGovern, Executive Director
The National Lutheran Home & Village cares about creating a high quality of living and healthcare for our residents.
Whether a resident is here for long term care, short stay rehab or respite care, our philosophy of care is resident centered. We humanely treat, with appropriate medical care, all treatable conditions. Though our work is grounded in the social ministry tradition of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, half of our residents are from different faith backgrounds. We welcome and celebrate this diversity.
Over the past three years we have implemented a rigorous quality assurance and quality improvement initiative. We want to assure you that understanding the concerns of our residents and their families is a cornerstone of that effort. We believe in a team approach and a standard of excellence that exceeds guidelines prescribed by the State of Maryland regulations for skilled nursing facilities.
The Family Forum is an opportunity to listen and learn. All questions are welcome and if we can not address a concern this evening, we will get response to you within a week after the meeting.

What is a Family Forum?
The families of our residents are important voices in the National Lutheran Home & Village community. NLHV is beginning a series of Family Forums to strengthen the caregiver/care provider partnership which supports the physical, social and spiritual needs of residents.
Who should come to Family Forum?
The Family Forum allows the primary family contact person to attend an open forum meeting with his or her family member. Non family members designated as primary contacts (power of attorney, conservator) are also invited.
Who can answer my questions?
Representatives from the nursing, physical therapy, social work, housekeeping, resident care and administrative staffs will be present to address questions and concerns.
The social worker or nurse manager for the resident is the person most familiar with specific residents care plans and medications. Due to HIPPA regulations protecting the privacy of all residents, only specific staff members have access to detailed information.
